About the Snapdragon team

Anna is Snapdragon's lead artist and loves to paint unique designs for faces of all ages. All of the designs you will see on this website have been created and painted by Anna herself. She is a Goldsmiths College and University of the Arts graduate who also trained at Charles Fox Theatrical Make-up of Covent Garden, London.

From rock royalty to real princesses, she's painted for a brilliant array of clients at parties and corporate events throughout London for over 8 years now. You may have seen her face painting at events for clients and venues in London, including Victoria & Albert Museum of Childhood, Milbank Tweed, Liberty, Momo, Stella McCartney Kids, The Groucho Club, Harrods, Swarovski Crystallized Lounge, the O2, London Zoo, Buckingham Palace, Claridges, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Selfridges, Royal College of Art, and even film premiere events such as The Incredibles, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, The Chronicles of Narnia & Rio the Movie.

For when your event requires multiple artists, Anna works alongside a network of talented, experienced associate face painters, and so even at a large event, your guests won't be limited to the usual face paint designs.

All associate artists hold full public liability insurance as well as CRB certificates and full details are available on request at the time of booking.

Some of the most frequently asked questions...

Do we need to provide any equipment for you?

We bring all equipment needed for your event, but we will need a table (approx. 1 metre square per artist) for us to work from, and two adult-sized chairs. Our work space needs to be situated in a well-lit area and should be within easy access to a supply of running water for rinsing brushes and to replace water. Please provide overhead cover if the booking is for an outdoor event.

Is there an age limit?

We don't recommend face painting for children under the age of three years old, but may at our discretion offer a design to be painted onto the hand or arm of a child who is over the age of 2 years old. However, we highly recommend face painting for grown ups since there is no upper age limit!

What kinds of paints do you use?

All of the face paint products that we use are safe, water-based, non-toxic, hypo-allergenic, and are certified by EEC or FDA approval. Professional face paints are formulated especially for this purpose, and will not irritate or harm the skin.

We love to use Grimas, Mehron, Kryolan, Snazaroo and Fardel products amongst other high quality brands. These products contain anti-bacterial agents and are gentle enough to use on younger skin. All products used by us comply to EEC and US safety regulations for cosmetics. We carefully use poly-glitter, which is specially manufactured for safe use on the face, as the pieces of glitter are cut to a smaller size and a safer shape with no sharp edges. All brushes and sponges are washed and cleansed thoroughly in between sessions, and water pots are changed regularly throughout each session. In addition to these safe-guards, you can rest assured that our artists work to a very high standard of safe and hygienic practice, with lots of common sense thrown in for good measure!

How should I remove my face paint?

Water-based face paint is very easy to remove and comes off easily with warm soapy water and a face cloth. Use baby wipes to remove the excess paint to begin with and then gently wash the skin with soap and water.

Can you travel to my area of London?

We have a great network of professional face painters and make-up artists who provide face painting and art make-up at events and parties all over London

Are there any health and safety guidelines that I should be aware of?

For children's events, we request that adults are present, as children will remain the responsibility of the parent, guardian, event host or organiser. Whilst we are used to working at very busy events, our concentration is focused on the child we are painting in front of us, and so we cannot be responsible for watching over unsupervised children.

It is incredibly rare to experience an allergic reaction to professional standard face paint products. However, as a precaution, smaller children should be always be accompanied by a parent or guardian (or have consent from either) to ensure that face painting is suitable for them.

We won't paint children who look as though they may have an illness or skin condition which might be contagious and we do not paint over grazes or broken skin. Equally, we may refuse to paint a child who appears to have eczema. Although this skin condition is not contagious, washing off the paint with soap and water once at home will aggravate it.

It is the responsibility of the guardian or parent of the child to advise us of the child's suitability to face painting. If a child has sensitive skin or has experienced allergic reactions previously, it is advisable not to paint their face. In this case, a small design painted on their arm or hand which may also double as a patch test may be more appropriate and will be offered at the artist's discretion.

We are covered by Public Liability Insurance but we won't be liable for any allergic reactions to face paint due to the above.

If a child is visibly uncomfortable, and will not sit still enough for us to paint them safely, or wants us to stop painting them for any reason at all, we will stop painting them.

If you'd like some advice or more information, then please do just ask.

How much do you charge?

We provide art make-up and face painting in many different contexts and for various kinds of events, so each booking is different to the last! Our charges reflect the fact that one fee does not fit all and rates depend upon the type and duration of booking, as well as on the distance to travel. Please contact us with information about your event, such as the venue location, (and post code if possible), the possible dates and times of your event and the number of guests attending. We will be happy to provide a quotation and advise of availability for you either by 'phone or email.

Is there a cancellation policy?

Cancellation within four weeks prior to the party or event date attracts a cancellation charge at 50% of the total fee. Should a cancellation be made within three days of the event date, payment of the full balance applies.
